“Black is black. There is no hope". When the pretty green color of your avocado turns black, you blame yourself for not having eaten it sooner, right? We've all ended up with half an avocado turning black after spending a day in the fridge. Good news, there is a trick that helps keep the green fruit longer.
According to Grazia, you just have to roughly chop a red onion, and place it in a container, in which you also place the avocado half, pit side up. We close the box and put it in the fridge.
The vapors of the onion will act on the oxidation of the avocado and allow it to be kept longer. And odor level? The avocado will not soak up the scent of the onion, because the two ingredients should not be in direct contact, assures the magazine. And no waste either: we reuse the red onion to make the recipe for real guacamole!
